WESTERN AUSTRALIA has woken up to a backpacker marketplace dominated by the icons on the other side of Australia, ie. East of Ayers Rock. They now have a new stall in their midst and a truly undiscovered part of Oz. Over a third of the entire Australian continent in fact and we are still struggling to get our heads around how exactly WA has been overlooked for so long - clearly size does matter for something!
Flushed with the recent success of the Bungle Bungle National Park World Heritage listing (itself only discovered in 1983) plus of course existing World Heritage status Shark Bay, famous for the wild dolphins of Monkey Mia. WA has an extraordinary range of adventure experiences and outback options to consider these days. Everything in fact to accommodate nature, wildlife and watersports enthusiasts, eco-freaks and lovers of gorges and strange rock formations - try Bungles, Wave Rock, Pinnacles and that's just for starters! Plus of course there is the staple diet of sun, sea, sand and surf all around Perth, Fremantle and Broome and almost everywhere up the 10,000 kms Indian Ocean coastline.
